oddjobs.im is a local professional platform for the Isle of Man with four clear doors: Home & trades, Health, Legal and Careers. Customers join free. Professionals join as Tradie, Medical or Legal. We never mix trade job cards with clinics, legal matters or recruitment vacancies.
Trades - post a job free, get interest / visits / estimates, award one winner. Health - browse clinics and clinicians, request an appointment (not public symptoms). Legal - browse firms, request a consultation (not a public matter board). Careers - partner vacancies via agencies. You’ll see the chooser on the homepage and customer hub.
Customers always free - create an account, post trade jobs, message, and use health/legal browse when available. Tradespeople get a free trial (no card at signup), then a monthly plan: Trade (from £29.99/mo), Pro (£49.99/mo), or Elite (£79.99/mo). Medical and legal professional workspaces are on the platform as pilot professional accounts. Still no commission on trade jobs.

When enabled by the site admin, use the flag switcher in the header. Public pages and interface chrome can be translated; tradie public mini-sites can follow enabled languages after content is saved.
No. Health uses browse and enquire - you request an appointment with a practice. There are no public symptom job cards. For emergencies call 999 or local urgent care. oddjobs.im is not a clinical records system or healthcare provider.
No. Legal uses browse and enquire - you request a consultation with a firm. There is no public “post your case” board. oddjobs.im is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
Register as Medical or Legal (or ask us). They get dedicated dashboards - practice profile, enquiry queue, professional theme - separate from the trade marketplace.

Sign up as a customer, open Post a Job (Home & trades door), add a title, description, photos, budget and urgency - and choose how tradies should reply: estimates, a site visit, or simple interest. Under a minute for most jobs. Completely free. Health and legal use browse & enquire instead.
Interest shows who’s free and keen so you can chat first. Site visits let you shortlist up to three people to come and look before pricing. Estimates are full priced responses (dates included); Pro & Elite tradies can attach letterheaded PDFs or system-generated branded estimates.
No. Those offers are for tradie memberships only. Customers always create accounts and post jobs free - no code, no card, no subscription.
Many jobs see interest or quotes within a few hours. You’ll be notified by email and/or push when someone responds - and you can turn those alerts on or off under Communications in your dashboard.
Yes. Open Communications in your customer dashboard. Choose email and/or push for new estimates, job approved/rejected, messages, date changes and more. Security emails (password reset, verification) always send.
Our free dashboard sidekick - not a generic chat widget. After you log in, tap OJ to Ask OJ: how to post a job, find Estimates, open Messages, draft wording, or jump straight to the right screen. Everyday how-to answers are free. Some open-ended questions may use a fair daily allowance of smarter AI answers. OJ knows which dashboard you’re on, so customers and tradespeople get help that matches their account.
We recommend speaking directly with the tradesperson first - most issues resolve with a conversation. If you can’t reach a resolution, contact us and we’ll help where we can. As a marketplace we connect you; we don’t perform the trade work ourselves.
Free trial first - no PayPal at signup. After the trial: Trade from £29.99/mo (list £29.99 if a campaign is live), Pro £49.99/mo, Elite £79.99/mo. No commission on jobs - just the monthly plan via PayPal. See For Trades → Plans (prices update when admins run campaigns).
Admins can run time-boxed campaigns (e.g. 20% off) with a bold price tag on marketing and register. Coupon codes and special links like register.php?role=tradesperson&promo=CODE can prefill a promo. Enter or apply the code on register or under Billing before PayPal. Extra free trial weeks/months may apply depending on the offer.
When active, Billing shows Invite a mate with your personal ?ref= link. Share it with other tradies. Attribution starts at signup; it usually qualifies when they subscribe. Rewards can differ by Trade / Pro / Elite (set by admin).
Trade - live jobs, diary, estimates/visits/interest, public page. Pro - letterhead estimates, attach PDFs, stronger shopfront & reports. Elite - flagship presence, vanity email features and top placement. All plans: no commission on jobs.
Yes. Set a primary trade on your profile, then tick additional trades for every other category you work in. Job matching and optional new-job alerts use all of them (plus approved certifications).
A digest of your next 7 days of visits, bookings and diary notes. Default is email on (often Sunday 18:00 local site time) - pick any day and hour under Communications. You can also tap Send week ahead now anytime. Print the week for the van from your diary.
Yes - Communications in the dashboard. Per-event email and push for messages, awards, declines, shortlists, date changes, trial/billing, and optional new jobs in your trades (with a location filter). Register or remove push devices on the same page.
Optional defaults on your profile: typical hourly rate, site visit fee, and emergency call-out “from” price. They prefill when you respond to jobs and can show on your public page. You can still change the number per job.
No. There is no commission taken from jobs. You only pay the flat monthly subscription for your plan (Trade, Pro or Elite) via PayPal - after the free trial.
Plan subscriptions are processed by PayPal. You approve billing on PayPal’s checkout - we don’t store your full card or bank details. You can cancel anytime from Billing or PayPal. Apply any promo code on Billing first so the right offer is used. (This is separate from job payments, which customers pay you directly.)
Customers pay you directly once the job is finished and they’re happy with the work. No platform fees or delays on job money.
We use a mix of automated checks, AI-assisted review, and human admin review where needed, to help catch spam, scams, and policy issues before content goes fully live. Decisions can be re-checked by our team.
Yes. We verify tradespeople before they can quote on jobs. This helps maintain quality and trust on the platform. Some trades also need certification documents before bidding on those categories.
